Obituary of Lois C. McTurk , 84

Lois C. McTurk, 84, of State College, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Fairways at Brookline Village, State College.

Born February 15, 1927 in Brant, New York, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lena Thomas Cappella. She was married for 50 years to William E. McTurk who preceded her in death on May 12, 2005.

She is survived by a brother-in-law, George E. McTurk and his wife, Beverly, of Marion, Mass., sister-in-law, Louise M. Burns, Thousand Oaks, CA, and several nieces and nephews.

Lois graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Cornell University. She was a research chemist for Exxon for 18 years.

She served as president of the Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association in the New York area from 1983-1984. Lois and her late husband were honored with the Distinguished Service Award, the highest award of the Metropolitan Golf Association. Lois also served on the USGA Women’s Committee, the highest level of women’s amateur golf in the United States.
