Lois M. Hennigh, 83, of Bellefonte, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, October 9, 2009, at Center Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.
She was born March 21, 1926, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Frank Cartwright and Verna Viola Lingle Hennigh.
Lois graduated from Messiah Academy, Grantham, PA, and attended Messiah College for three years.
Early in life Ms. Hennigh worked for Balfurd Cleaners in State College; later working for the Penn State University as a statistical clerk in the Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology Department for thirty two years, retiring March 2, 1991.
A long time member of Coleville Wesleyan Church, she was active in Sunday School, bible school, children’s ministries and following her retirement, she was active in visitation ministry at the church. She also served as director of Missions from 1982 until 2005.
Her interests were her church activities, working on her computer, plastic mesh work, needle work and letter writing.
Surviving are three sisters, Esther Hennigh, Rachel Hennigh of Dillsburg, PA and Orpha Thuma of Marietta, PA; a neice Martha Scheuing of Maytown, PA; a nephew Ron Hennigh of Centerville, PA; and a close friend with whom she resided prior to her illness, May Smoyer of Bellefonte.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother Mabel Ginder Hennigh; a sister Pauline Hennigh and two brothers, Edgar Hennigh and Paul Hennigh.
Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p. m Monday, October 12, 2009, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Cetnre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the funeral home with the Reverend Ron Kilgus and the Reverend Karen Rhone officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery, Church Hill Road, Colyer.
