Lorraine B. Moore Fies, 75, of State College and Bradenton Fla., died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer,.

Born Nov. 21, 1934, in Renovo, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Netta "Betty" Watson Moore. On Feb. 15, 1958, she married Lawrence S. "Larry" Fies, who survives at home. Lorraine was a 1952 graduate of Renovo High School and attended Lock Haven State Teachers College.

She was married to a career Air Force serviceman and lived in many different locations. She lived four years in England, where her oldest two children Mike and Lori were born, seven years at Hickam AFB on Oahu Hawaii, and numerous other Air Force bases during their 23 years in the military. She worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant for the Federal government and the Applied Research Lab and the College of Business at Penn State University. She also worked as a cruise consultant for Cruise Holidays and Expedia Cruise Ship Centers. Her passion was going on cruises and working in the travel industry. She traveled extensively all over the world. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed bowling, ceramics, movies, eating out, dancing, and most of all, spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends.

Since 1995, she was a "snowbird", sharing residences in State College and Bradenton, Fla. She attended St. Peters United Church of Christ in State College and Christ United Methodist Church in Bradenton.

Along with her husband, she is survived by three children, Michael L. Fies and his wife, Karen, of Waynesboro, Va.; Lori A. Davenport, of State College; and David M. Fies, of San Leandro, Calif.; three grandchildren, Kameron and Kassie Davenport and Jonathan Fies; two sisters JoNell Knisely and her husband, Thomas "Tim", of Bellefonte; and Delphine Topper and her husband, Larry, of Reston, Va.; and three brothers, Darrell Moore and his wife, Jan, of Manson, Wash.; Kent Moore and his wife, Cherie, of Bradenton, Fla.; And Wayne Moore and his wife Priscilla, of Jamestown, N.Y. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, and from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday August 5, 2010, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday August 5, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
