Lorraine C. Stevens, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at home surrounded by her family. Born Sept. 19, 1918, in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Earl Z. Campbell and Alice Cooper Campbell. On Dec. 9, 1944, she married Franklin K. Stevens.

She was a graduate of Bellefonte High School Class of 1935. In 1937, she worked for GC Murphy. From 1937-1950 she was an operator for Bell Telephone, where she trained many operators and became acting chief operator. From 1946-1950 she was an operator in Pittsburgh while her husband attended Dental School. Her later working years, she assisted her husband at his dental office until his retirement in 1987.

She was "Nana" to many children who knew her well at her grandchildren's sporting events. She would crochet scrubbies at these events and pass them out. She continued to make these scrubbies. She also loved to knit. Many babies wore her sweaters over the years. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte and also a member of the Win One Class.

She was survived by her husband until the following evening when he then joined her in eternity. She is survived by three daughters, Joyce S. (John) Irvin, of Madisonburg, Janis L. (Randy Greene) Stevens, of Bellefonte and Amy S. (John) Snook, of Howard; by eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Philip) Nichols, Jesse Irvin, Staci (Ricky) Redman, Kristi (Travis) Price, Keith (Barbie) Stevens, Adam Snook, John (Lorraina) Snook, William Snook; by eight great grandchildren and by one sister, Gladys Murray of Bellefonte. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Rehrig and one granddaughter, Rebecca Irvin.

There will be a public visitation held on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte, and Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 128 W. Howard Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Sue Goetz officiating, assisted by Reverend Alex Dyakiw. Burial will follow in Centre County Memorial Park in College Township.
