Obituary of Lynda K. Bregy , 68

Lynda K. Bregy, 68, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at her home in State College, PA after a difficult fight with cancer. Born March 12, 1942 in California, she spent much of her adult life in Scotch Plains, NJ. She moved to State College in 2002 to be near her daughter Michelle and her granddaughters. She enjoyed being an extremely devoted grandmother. Some of her favorite hours were spent playing with her three granddaughters Megan, Marie, and Claire. She was also passionate about PEO, an organization focused on education for women. She first became a member of a NJ chapter of PEO in 1983, transferred to Chapter AD in State College in 2002, and served as president for two years. She was instrumental in encouraging new membership, and she helped organize a new chapter of the organization in State College. Before moving to State College, she enjoyed a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, working for Ciba-Geigy and then Novartis. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from New York University. Lynda is survived by her mother, Barbara Baldwin, her two daughters Lauren Bregy and Michelle Lowry, her son-in-law Chuck Lowry, and her three granddaughters, Megan, Marie, and Claire, and her nephew Jeff McGinnis.

A memorial service will be held at State College Presbyterian Church at 11:00am on Monday February 21, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Lynda’s name be made to either State College Presbyterian Church (132 W Beaver Ave, State College, PA 16801) or the Melanoma Research Foundation (1411 K Street, NW Suite 500, Washington, DC 20005).
