Mabel A. Etters, 95 of Bellefonte, passed away at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. She was born on August 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry Frederick and Zola (Decker) Kessling. On March 11, 1939, she married her late husband, Milford O,. Etters Sr. with whom she was blessed to spend 52 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on August 4, 1991.

Mabel was previously employed at Willowbank Unit Hospital of Bellefonte as a nurse and later she retired from Centre Community Hospital. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church of Marsh Creek and an active member of the Pleasant Valley Ladies Aide.

She enjoyed needle point, sewing and reading along with attending ceramics, bingo, and garden club of Centre Crest Nursing Home.

Surviviing are her four sons; Milford O. Etters Jr. and his wife Carol of Howard, Frederick Etters and his wife Ruby of Julian, George Etters and his wife Nellie of Bellefonte, and Charles Etters and his wife Barbara of Howard, three daughters; Anna Mae Bechdel ahd her husband Roger of Blanchard, Edna Houdeshell of Bellefonte, and Dorother Etters of Bellefonte, one brother; Clarence Kessliing of Chambersburg. She was also blessed with 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were both parents, her husband, one infant which died at birth, one brother; Henry Kessling, four sisters; Dessie Emel, Helen Irvin, Christine Bennett, and Annie Lose, and one son-in-law; Paul Houdeshell.

There will be a public visitation on February 11, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Howard. The Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Pastor Doug Mellott officiating. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery, Howard Twp. with no graveside service.
