Surrounded by her loving family and faithful pastor, Mabel Myers Wagner, 96, formerly of Madisonburg, entered into eternal rest at Valley View Haven in Belleville on Aug. 26, 2010.

Born May 22, 1914, in Farmers Mills, Mabel was a daughter of the late Harvey D. and Kathryn Gertrude Wise Hagan. She was a graduate of the Gregg Twp. Vocational School. In January 1933, Mabel married C. Ardell Myers. Mr. Myers preceded her in death in 1974. On Aug. 23, 1981 Mabel married J. Ernest "Ben" Wagner. Mr. Wagner also preceded her in death in February of 2003.

Mabel was a former member of the Farmers Mills and Spring Mills Lutheran church's and the Madisonburg United Methodist Church. Most recently, she was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church. Mabel was very involved in church activities. She played piano for 25 years, was active in the church choir and also taught Sunday School. Mabel was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and she volunteered at Mount Nittany Medical Center in the snack bar.

Mabel enjoyed knitting, crocheting and she was an avid reader. Perhaps the activity Mabel enjoyed most was spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family as well as others. During the holidays, she would often cook meals and deliver them to the less fortunate in the area. She will be greatly missed and her passing will leave a void in the hearts of those who loved her.

Mabel is survived by one daughter, Catherine Wasson (Paul), of Madisonburg; three sons, Larry Myers (Ruth), Ralph Myers (Tierney) and Jerry Myers (Carol), all of Spring Mills; three stepsons, Larry Wagner (Barb), of California, David Wagner (Grace), of Arizona, and Ted Wagner (Pat), of Pine Grove Mills; also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren. In addition to both her husbands, Mabel was preceded in death by brothers Ralph Hagan, Walter Hosterman; one infant brother; and one great grandchild, Bradley Boob.

Family and friends will be received at the New Hope Lutheran Church on Rte. 45 in Spring Mills on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow immediately at 4:30 p.m. with Rev. Nathan Pile officiating. Burial will be in Farmers Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mabel may be sent to New Hope Lutheran Church, Po Box 96, Spring Mills, Pa 16875. The Steven R. Neff Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
