Marcella I. Houdeshell, 93, of Pine Glen, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on February 26, 1922, in Royal, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ester R. Coble Snedden. On May 21, 1940, in Karthaus, she married William A. Houdeshell who passed away on May 15, 1987. She lived with her companion, Northorp D. Minto, from 1991 until his death in 1999.

Marcella attended the Kylertown School. She was a life member of the Pine Glen United Methodist Church. She was employed at Murata Erie, retiring in 1984 after 23 years of service.
Marcella was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Frenchville and the Snow Shoe Area Lions Club. She assisted with many fund raisers at all the local churches. She enjoyed quilting at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Karthaus. She aided in a lot of funeral dinners over the years. Marcella was always ready to help anyone in need.

Marcella enjoyed a lot things through her life, but really enjoyed camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Marcella is survived by her two sons; Chester A. Houdeshell and his wife, Millie, and W. Daniel Houdeshell and his wife, Bonnie, both of Pine Glen; step-son, James Minto of Michigan; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are her three sisters; Daisy F. Dobo of New York, Nannie Jean Archer of Houtzdale, and Patricia A, Milligan of Clearfield.

Along with her parents and husband, Marcella was preceded in death by three sons; Howard F. Washburn, Fredrick W. Houdeshell, and Orvis L. Houdeshell, four brothers; George A., Harry A., Fredrick W., and Donald G., one sister, Mary E. Etters, and two granddaughters; Tammie L. Houdeshell and Dannett Rider.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8pm with the VFW Auxiliary memorial service at 7:45 followed by the Lions Memorial Service at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Catherine W. Dittman officiating. Burial will follow at Askey Cemetery, Snow Shoe Twp.

In lieu of flowers, Marcella’s wishes were to have donations made to the Pine Glen United Methodist Church, 104 N. Main St. Pine Glen, Karthaus, PA 16845.
