Obituary of Marcellus E. Horner, 85

Marcellus E. Horner, 85, of Spring Mills, passed from this life on September 26, 2016 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born October 16, 1930 in Spring Mills, Marcellus is a son of the late Samuel and Mary “Showers” Horner. He was a graduate of the Gregg Township Vocational School. On June 25, 1949 he married Betty J. Sweeley, who preceded him in death on December 1, 2012.

Marcellus is survived by four daughters, Judy E. Musser (Byron) of Gettysburg, Sandra J. Puff (John) of Morrisville, NC, Gena L. Horner also of Morrisville and Esther D. Horner of Williamsport; one son, Kerry L. Horner of Spring Mills and one sister, Susan Bopp (David) of Johnstown. Also surviving are grandchildren, W. Edward Hicks (Kendra), Keith A. Musser, John Travis Puff (Jennifer), Amy Stone (Jason), and Lacey and Sara Grenell and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Marcellus was preceded in death by one grandson, Frederick T. Segraves and four brothers, George, Lawrence, Ammon and Gerald Horner.

Marcellus was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Centre Hall and the Boalsburg Fire Company where he was very active in his younger years. He was a construction worker for Ronald W. Johnston Construction and enjoyed hunting when he found the time.

Family and friends will be received at the Calvary Bible Church on Friday, September 30th from 10-11 am, followed by the funeral service at 11 with Pastor Rick Gilbaugh officiating. Marcellus will be laid to rest at Heckman Cemetery in Spring Mills. Contributions in memory of Marcellus may be given to Calvary Bible Church, 600 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Centre Hall, Pa 16828.
