Surrounded by his family, Marcellus Palmer “Toot” Brungart, of Smullton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 3rd at his home. He was 82. Born in Smullton on October 15, 1935, Marcellus was a son of the late Palmer L. and Lula E. “Day” Brungart. On April 15, 1955, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Gross who survives at their home.

Marcellus was a mason for 38 years, with his final employer being Nevin Long Construction, where he retired from in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking, making many small items for family. Marcellus was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler, Pittsburgh Pirate and Penn State Football fan. Most of all he loved getting together with family and friends.

Marcellus is survived by three daughters, Rose M. Campbell of Bellefonte, Reita Rockey (Harold “Chum” Ham) of Spring Mills, and Rhonda M. Brungart of State College; three sons, Russell M. Brungart (Stephanie) of Lewistown, Rodney M. Brungart of Centre Hall, and Randall M. Brungart (Patti) of Spring Mills. Also surviving is one brother Dean Brungart (Janice) of Centre Hall; seventeen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. Marcellus was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Embick and two brothers, Leonard Brungart and LaRue Brungart. The family would like to thank Centre Crossings Hospice for their care and compassion during Marcellus’s passing.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 7th from 4-8pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed immediately by the funeral service with Rev. Andy Cooley and Rev. Fred Bennett officiating.
