Margaret (Annie) Owens, 90, of Linden Hall, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born September 13, 1923 in Southport, NC, she was a daughter of the late Crawford and Margaret (Combee) Watts.

On February 18, 1946, in Jacksonville, FL, she married Jerry J. Owens, who survives at home.

She was a 1940 graduate of Southport High School in South Port, NC., and attended National Administration School learning to operate machines needed for the manufacturing of war planes. She continued working in Glen Martin Factory in Middle River, MD, helping to build the Seaplane, the B-26 and various other kinds of aircraft used in World War II.

Margaret was a member of the State College Assembly of God Church, where she helped in children’s church, church camps and Bible quizzing.

She enjoyed practical jokes, canning, making jelly, gardening, raising flowers and crocheting, having made many afghans and pot holders.

She was a member of the Linden Hall Garden Club and was known for the quality of pies she would bake, and a member of the Boalsburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Daniel J. and his wife Rosalie Owens of Centre Hall and Samuel K. Owens II and his companion Jenny Aber of Linden Hall; five grandchildren, Kersten, Steven, Mark, Sarah and Samuel K. Owens II, who lived with his grandparents; one sister and a half brother.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, a son Robert C. Owens, in 2006, her step father, Daniel Lose and a half sister Judy Lose.

Visitation will be held noon – 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 2, 2014, at State College Assembly of God, 2201 University Drive Extension, State College, PA 16801. A funeral service will follow at 2:00PM at the church the Reverends Steve Silliman, Harry Brotzman and John Chase officiating,

Interment will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
