Margaret M. Smith, 87, of Port Matilda, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Margaret was born in Philipsburg on March 21, 1930, a daughter of the late John and Charlotte Craigo Mayhue. On December 12, 1949, she married Thomas H. Smith, Jr. who preceded her in death January 7, 1993.

Margaret is survived by her two sons, John T. (Marsha) Smith, of Duncansville and Harry L. (Christine) Smith, of South Williamsport; her daughter, Janice A. (Lewis) DeAngelis, of Ashville; and her son-in-law, John J. Zendek, of Enola. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Marlene Mayhue.

Margaret was a cook at Port Matilda Elementary School. She was a member of Port Matilda United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing puzzle works, reading and flowers, and watching hummingbirds.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet D. Zendek; her two grandchildren Lewie DeAngelis III and Tommy DeAngelis; and her brother, John Mayhue.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at The Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, with Pastor Sam Reese officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home, Monday from 11:00 a.m. – 1 :00 p.m. Burial will be in the Port Matilda Cemetery, Port Matilda.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Port Matilda United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 508, Port Matilda, PA 16870. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg.
