Obituary of Marie M. Stitzer , 86

Marie M. Stitzer, 86, of Spring Mills, departed from this life on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.

Marie, the daughter of the late Paul Anthony Noll and Ellen Ruth Musser, was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Spring Mills. Marie was a graduate of the Gregg Township Vocational School. On Dec. 21, 1941, she married Claude L. Stitzer. Mr. Stitzer preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1997. Marie retired from Gettig Engineering in Spring Mills. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gregg Township Fire Company. Marie, along with her late husband, were among the founding members of the Faith Alive Fellowship in Spring Mills.

Marie is survived by one son, Nevin L. Stitzer and his wife, Betsy, of Spring Mills; three daughters, Sue Gill and her husband, William, of Centre Hall, Lynette Kojundic and her husband, Tony, of Pittsburgh, and Loretta Jeffries and her husband, Kim, of Altoona; two sisters, Christine Thompson, of Roaring Springs, and Carol Booher, of State College; one brother, Bud Noll, of Altoona, and one daughter-in-law, Sharon Stitzer. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Leah Stitzer, Kevin Stitzer, Tony Bierly, Rodney Fetters, Kelly Stitzer, Mark Sharer, Jason Bierly, Gregory Sharer and Dawn Harpster; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, Marie was preceded in death by one son, Bernie.

Marie will be laid to rest during a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, in Holy Cross Cemetery on Upper George's Valley Road in Spring Mills, with the Rev. Chris Korn officiating. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie's memory may be given to Faith Alive Fellowship, 4394 Penn's Valley Road, Spring Mills, PA 16875.

The Steven R. Neff Funeral Home of Millheim assisted the family with the arrangements.
