Marjorie H. Hall Weir, 87, of Williamstown, NJ, formerly of State College, after a life well lived in His service, went home to be with her Lord, at Meadowview Nursing Center in Williamstown, NJ.

She was born September 19, 1924, at Tyrone, a daughter of the late Roy and Mabel Peace Hall.

Marjorie married James Donald Weir June 26, 1955; who preceded her in death May 5, 1999.

Going beyond what many women in her era were able to do, she attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, and the Pennsylvania State University in State College.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a secretary at the former Titan Metals near Bellefonte, and in the Ordinance Research Lab at the Pennsylvania State University. A significant and extremely important part of her life was the time and energy she devoted to Christian service, including having worked as a teacher and sponsor with Child Evangelism Fellowship, as a volunteer at WTLR Christian radio station, volunteering with Campus Crusade for Christ, and serving as a Billy Graham volunteer. Having a true servant’s heart, she made valuable contributions to her community by serving as a 4-H leader, and a Red Cross volunteer helping to organize blood drives.

Mrs. Weir was a founding member of Park Forest Baptist Church, State College. Her memberships also included the State College Christian Woman’s Club, The State College Chamber Music Committee, the Altrusa Club and the Penn State Retirees.

Bringing additional meaning to her life were spending time with family, music and singing, having served as a soloist with Fred Waring; reading, traveling and drawing

Surviving Mrs. Weir are two daughters, Rebecca Weir Firestone and her husband Steve of North Carolina, and Mabelle Weir Reamer and her husband Raymond of New Jersey; one son Jonathan Weir and his wife Terri of Colorado; nine grandchildren Jessica Firestone, Benjamin, Heidi, Donavan, Luke and Logan Weir, Joy Reamer Stewart and her husband Kevin, and Zachary and Christina Reamer; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Jayden Stewart; one sister, Bette Breault, of Mt. Joy, and three brothers, Richard Hall and his wife Grace of Milesburg, Roy Hall of Bellefonte, and Rodman Hall and his wife Jo of Milesburg; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Weir was preceded in death by a daughter in law Pamela Weir; a sister Jeanne Rider; a brother, John Hall, two sisters in law Ruth and Darlene Hall and a brother in law Charles Rider.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p. m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 1034 Benner Pike, State College.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Park Forest Baptist Church, 330 Carnegie Drive, State College, the Reverend Doctor Jim Nolten and the Reverend James Schomer officiating. Burial will be in Gray’s Cemetery near Stormstown.
