Obituary of Martha A. Butts , 53

Martha A. Butts, 53, of Milesburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She spent her last days at home surrounded by loved ones. In these last few months she faced her difficult battle with unwavering strength, courage and faith in the Lord.

Marty was a energetic person who loved life. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be remembered most for her love as a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending her time with friends and family and had a passion for nurturing her many colorful flower beds.

Marty was born on Oct. 1, 1956, in Bellefonte, a daughter of Merrel and Lorraine Kellander, of Bellefonte. On July 11, 1998, she married John Butts Jr., who survives at home.

Along with her parents and husband, she is survived by her daughter, Kelly Boldin Smay and son-in-law, Doug Smay, and their children, Bradly, Hayley, Brandon and Hayden, of Julian; her sister, Debra Karns (Dale), of McClure; her brother, Bill Kellander (Terri), of Bellefonte; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, from 5-7 p.m., at the Brookside Wesleyan Church, 403 Bush Hollow Road, Julian, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. The Rev. Robert "Bo" King will officiate. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township, Centre County.
