Martha Shaffer Dodd, of Pleasant Gap, formerly of Port Matilda and DuBois, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Born on August 26, 1945 in Brookville PA, she was the daughter of Carl and Gladys Shaffer.

Martha graduated from Brookville High School, and earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Elementary Education from Clarion University. On August 24, 1968, she married Jack Dodd of DuBois. Earning her Master degree was an outstanding accomplishment that she and her husband were very proud.

Martha’s passion was teaching, and she taught in the DuBois school district for over 32 years. Ever faithful and loving, she was devoted to her family. She was a member of Falls Creek, Lakeside, and Park Forest Village United Methodist Churches. Martha also held leadership positions in DuBois chapters of the Order of the Amaranth and White Shrine.

Martha was preceded in passing by her parents, Carl and Gladys Shaffer. She is survived by her husband, Jack Dodd, Pleasant Gap, daughter Darlene and her husband Scott Aaron of DuBois, son Jason and his wife Lynn Dodd of Leola, grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica (Frank) and Justin Allen and Emily Frank, Hunter Aaron, and Harper, Alisan and Ashly Dodd, and great-grandchildren, Molly, Aliyah and Nova Allen. She also leaves behind her siblings and families, Bob and Connie (Shaffer) Love of Chambersburg, Perry and Charlotte (Shaffer) McAfoose of Brookville, and Larry and Pauline Shaffer of Mansfield OH.

A memorial and celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11 am at Park Forest Village United Methodist Church, 1833 Park Forest Ave, State College, PA 16803. Participants are encouraged to wear red as it was Martha’s favorite color. Interment will be held at a later date.
