Obituary of Martha Smoyer, 83

Martha M. Smoyer, 83 of Bellefonte, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. She was born in Beech Creek on January 25, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Florence Kitchen Bechdel.

She married Arthur J. Smoyer who preceded her in death.

Martha was a homemaker and had also worked at Sylvania and as a crossing guard for Bellefonte School District. She was a member of the Brookside Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by four daughters; Florence Ann Cogan of Lewistown, Gail S. and husband Dan Trutt of New Cumberland, Cheryl M. and husband Larry Kauffman of Mexico, Pa. and Wanda J. Corman of Bellefonte, three sons; Daniel L. and wife Sandy of Milroy, Robert L. and wife Lisa of Moshannon and Doyle C. and wife Zeta of Bellefonte. Two sisters; Lois Confer and Mary Lou Evers and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers; Harry, Donald, Merle, Leroy, Lynn and Daniel Bechdel.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard at 2:00 with the Rev. Robert "Bo" King officiating. There will be a public visitation from 12:30 till time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard Twp at the convenience of the family.
