Obituary of Martha Swancer, 79

Martha C. Swancer, 79, of Clarence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville. Born on May 9, 1935, in Grassflat, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Franek Yatchik. On July 14, 1962, in Drifting, she married William A. Swancer, who passed away on April 14, 2007.

Martha was a member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a homemaker. Martha was very proud that she received her G.E.D. in 1988. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and going for walks with her friends. She was an excellent maker of Kreplach and loved making them for her grandchildren. Her favorite pass time was reading.

Martha is survived by her children; William M. Swancer of Clarence, Ann Marie Swancer and her husband, Mark Duhamel of Albuquerque, NM, Darlene S. Girardi of Philipsburg, Margaret J. Furl and her husband, Frank of Clarence, and Barbara Potter and her husband, Jack of Moshannon.

Also surviving are her three grandchildren, Cassie Girardi, Jenna Girardi, and Hunter Furl, and her sister, Ann Bumbarger of Morrisdale.

Along with her parents, and husband, Martha was preceded in death by one brother, John Yatchik.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11am with the Rosary being said at 10:45am, at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence with Father Matthew Laffey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Severns Cemetery in Drifting.
