Marvin Lee Baney, 66, of Archer, Fla., passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Hospice Care Center, Chiefland, Fla. Marvin was born December 8, 1948, in Bellefonte.

Marvin served in the United States Marine Corp from Sept. 30, 1966, until Sept. 29, 1972. He served 11 months and 29 days in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam Service medal with two stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, the Meritorious Mast, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Good Conduct medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He served in Atomic Demolitions and a Combat Engineer, with an honorable discharge and a Sergeant E5 rank. Marvin finished out his career in the military stationed in San Diego as a Drill Instructor.

He began his civilian life as an apprentice carpenter, later becoming a journeyman. He moved from building apartments to building high rises in the State of Nevada, City of Reno. Marvin climbed the ladder to become foreman, general foreman, and finally a general superintendent. He held that career for 34 years.

Marvin was the son of the late Lee Baney and Erma Milton Baney Keen. He is survived by his wife the former Lynn M. Powers; one sister, Deborah Hillenbrand, of Grantville; and one brother, Randy A. (Lori) Baney, of Clearwater, Fla. Also surviving are five nephews; three nieces; four grandnephews; and eight grandnieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Baney.

Services will be held at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, PA on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Douglas W. Mellott officiating. Family and friends will be received Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 10-11 a.m. time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Boggs Township, Centre County where military honors will be accorded.
