Obituary of Mary B. Letterman , 89

Mary B. Letterman, 89, of Milesburg, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in Bellefonte.

Born July 24, 1920, in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Sallie E. Seyler Shaffer. On April 3, 1937, she married Elmer E. Letterman, who preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1988. Mary was a homemaker as well as a member of Milesburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and doing charity walks.

She is survived by two sons, Elmer E. (Rose) Letterman, of Lemont, and Gregory A. (Susie) Letterman, of Ijamsville, Md.; two sisters, Fietta Johnson, of Bellefonte, and Kathryn Masullo, of Bellefonte; one brother, William C. Schaffer, of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Letterman; two brothers, Roy Shaffer and Lee Shaffer; and three sisters, Elsie Williams, Viola Baney and Mable Cain.

Friends will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl E. Hill officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, College Township.
