Mary C. Alterio, 78, of Bellefonte, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.
Born on March 23, 1932, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey Theodore Corl and Bernice Nadine Lose. She was preceded in death by her husband William Rockey Alterio in 1985. She was a 1950 graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School. Mary worked as an operator for Bell Telephone and also worked as a clerk for Fleishers Dairy. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellefonte and a former member of the Bellefonte Moose.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Linda Barndt, of Bellefonte; three sons; Dave Alterio (Ginny), of Centre Hall, Robert "Bob" Alterio, of Julian, and Thomas Alterio (Michelle), of Zion. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Susan Keller, of Bellefonte; seven grandchildren, Heather Alterio and Brittany Alterio, Chad and Sean Barndt, Kella Alterio, Shane Alterio, Nathan Alterio; and one great grandchild, Talan Barndt. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Hermine Solt, and grandson, Jordan David Alterio.
There will be a public visitation held on Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 6-8 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA 16823 and also Friday, April 23, 2010, from 1-2 p.m. at St John Lutheran Church, 216 N. McAllister St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 23, 2010, at 2 p.m., at the church, with the Reverend Dr. Barry R. Folmar officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, College Township.
