Mary E. Bostian, 96, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born in Sunbury, on December 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Walter A. and Lessie I. (Dyer) Woodcock. On November 9, 1941, in Sunbury, she married the love of her life, Robert I. Bostian, who survives her at home after sharing 77 years of marriage together.

Mary was a 1940 graduate of Sunbury High School. During WWII, she worked for Western Union. She also worked in the Bursar’s Office at Penn State and later as a secretary for Fleisher Dairy Store.

In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by one daughter, Cynthia G. McDaniels (Edward), of Dagsboro, DE, and two sons, Robert I. Bostian, Jr. (Deborah), of Seekonk, MA, and James A. Bostian (Tammy), of Hanover, PA; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Frances Shaffer, of Newport News, VA.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by seven sisters and three brothers.

Mary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellefonte where she was very active in the Lutheran Church Women’s Group.

Whether you knew her as Mary, Mom, Nana, or Grandnana, she was always there to love and support you and she will be missed by all.

There will be a public viewing held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10 – 11am at St. John Lutheran Church at 216 N. McAllister Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will immediately follow at the church at 11am with Rev. Will Osman officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
