Prior to starting a family, she worked for the Parole Board in Bellefonte and the U.S. Post Office in Howard. She made a career of raising her six children. When the youngest went off to college, she went to work in the Penn State Registrar's Office, where she retired after 13 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Bellefonte Women's Club. She was an avid football fan of Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She loved playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs.

She is survived by five daughters and their husbands, Sonna (Tim) McDevitt, Elaine (Ernest) Ebeling, Bonita (Denny) Leathers, Eleanor (Gene) Hutsky, all of Bellefonte, and Cynthia (Joseph) Nicosia, of State College; one son and his wife, Jared (Kathy) Evey, of Bellefonte; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Nano" by all her grandchildren.
