Mary M. Kolasa, 91, of State College, formerly of Clarence, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Hearthside Nursing Home in State College. Born on March 22, 1923, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Koleno Cingle. On February 12, 1945, in Clarence, she married Andrew W. Kolasa who survives at home.

Mary was a 1941 graduate of Snow Shoe High School. During WWII, she worked at the Sylvania Plant in Mill Hall. Later, she worked as an Administrator Aid at Penn State, retiring in 1987 after 22 years of service.
Mary was a member of St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church in Clarence before moving to State College. She then became a member of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College.

Mary enjoyed traveling, reading, but especially loved baking.

Along with her husband, Mary is survived by four children; David A. Kolasa of State College, Kevin M. Kolasa of Milton, DE, Linda K. Burd of Harvey’s Lake, PA, and Maureen S. Kolasa and her husband, Michael Schooley of Tucker, GA. Also surviving are her four brothers; Frank Cingle of Bellefonte, Andy Cingle of Clarence, Edward Cingle of Altoona, and Ted Cingle of Ohio, three sisters; Margaret D’Elia of New York, Jane Cresson of New York, and Barbara White of Indiana, two grandchildren, Brian Burd and Karen DeMarco and five great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers; Steve, Mike, Bob, Dave, and William, one sister, Agnes Cingle, and a son in-law, Ray Burd.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11am at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Clarence with Father Mark R. Reid officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarence.
