Mary Louise “Lou” Barrickman, 86, of State College, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Fairways at Brookline Village.

Born March 15, 1925, in Clariton, she was the daughter of the late David William and Elizabeth Dittler Jones. She married Dr. Richard V. Barrickman, who survives.

She is survived by three children, Richard C. Barrickman and his wife, Kathy, of State College, David A. Barrickman and his wife, Donna, of Philadelphia, Barbara L. Slaughter and her husband, Richardson, of Cave Creek, Arizona, seven grandchildren, Tyler Barrickman and his wife Lauren; Marie Barrickman; Adam Barrickman and his wife, Britti; David “Bo” Barrickman and his wife, Amy; Abbey Gutowski and her husband, Kurt; Jayne Barrickman; Gracy Slaughter and six great- grandchildren, Ava Barrickman, Joel and Aiden Canner, Anders Barrickman, John Miller Gutowski and Morgan Gutowski.

Lou was a 1943 graduate of Clariton High School. She attended Penn State University and then graduated in 1945 from the University of Pennsylvania in Dental Hygiene. She worked as a Dental Hygienist early in her life and worked for the Clariton School District.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in State College. She enjoyed golfing, knitting, painting crafts, swimming, walking and crossword puzzles.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She spent many loving hours knitting sweaters, painting Christmas ornaments and making picture albums.

Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Susan Reisinger officiating.

Burial will be in the Centre County Memorial Park.
