Obituary of Mary Rio, 91

Mary C. Rio, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away Sunday, March31, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born in Weedville, PA, on July 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Kaluznik) Luchuck. On February 21, 1949, she married Joseph D. Rio, who preceded her in death in 1969.
Mary graduated from Huston Township High School in Penfield, PA. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Mary enjoyed miniature Schnauzers and Golden Retrievers, word searches, black licorice, flower gardens, Irish and Polka music, and jigsaw puzzles. She will be greatly missed by those who love her.
She is survived by her two daughters; Susan Rio Carson and her husband Charles of Bellefonte, Patricia R. Whitaker and her husband Michael of Hudson, OH; two grandchildren, Erik Whitaker and his wife Kelly of Oakland, CA, Kristen Cooper and her husband Scott of Kent, OH, and two great-grandchildren Kasey and Kyle Cooper. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Joseph Hazel; two sisters, Suzanne and Kathryn; three brothers, Adam, Michael and Stephen.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 1:00 PM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte with Father Neil R. Dadey officiating. There will be no public visitation.
