Obituary of Mary Ruth McClure, 92

Mary Ruth McClure,92, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 at Centre Crest Nursing Home.

She was born in Bellefonte on Nov. 5, 1923, a daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Ellen Himes Gordon.

She was united in marriage to Nelson M. McClure who preceded her in death on Feb. 20,1993. She was a graduate of Howard High School.

Mary was employed at the HUB at Penn State as a cook until her retirement after 18 years of service. She was a member of God's Missionary Church in Milesburg.

Mary was a past member of the Unionville Grange, Milesburg American Legion Auxillary, and the Unionville Lions Club.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, and playing cards.

She is survived by her daughter; Mary Ellen (Butch) Switzer of Howard, a son;Samuel L. ( Carol ) McClure of Hollidaysburg, a sister; Edna McConaghy of Whitman Square, N.J., a brother; George Gordon of Augusta, Ga., 5 grandchildren; Sam McClure Jr., Donald 'Tiny' Switzer, Vickie Franklin, Michael McClure, and Carla Hillard, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.

Funeral services celebrating Mary's life will be held on Wednesday March 2, 2016 at God's Missionary Church, 218 old 220, Water St., Milesburg, Pa.16853 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev Michael Hoskins Officiating.

Friends will be received at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
