Obituary of Mary Weidner , 82

Mary Weidner, 82, of State College, PA, passed away on Friday, July 3 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born in Catasauqua, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Miriam Yandow. She attended Penn State University where she received a degree in Secondary Science Education and met her future husband, Thomas Weidner; they married December 25, 1954.

Mary was an educator throughout her life. She was a substitute teacher in the Claremont, NH public schools, taught sewing and cooking to girls in 4-H, and she was a Sunday School teacher for six decades. More recently she led Bible classes at three area nursing homes, and each summer for the past 35 years she volunteered at a camp for young people with disabilities.

She is survived by Thomas Weidner, her husband of 60 years; a son, Timothy (Karen) Weidner of Glens Falls, NY; a daughter, Jennifer (Richard) Godlewski of Mechanicsville, VA; one sister, Marjorie Cyphers of Stroudsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Ryan and Anna; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mary Weidner will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 1 pm at New Covenant Baptist Church, 1524 University Dr., State College, PA.
