Obituary of Mary Werner, 67

Mary B. Werner, 67, of State College, died July 4, 2013, at her residence. Born February 27, 1946, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late David and Virginia (Haynes) Burger. On September 2, 1988, in Winchester, VA, she married Brent E. Werner, who survives at home.

She graduated from Bald Eagle High School, after attending 11 years in the Penns Valley school system. She went to work for the state unemployment office in State College. Following that, she worked for Corning Glass while building and opening the Dale Summit plant. From there, she was employed at SCI-Rockview as the Superintendent's secretary. In 1978, she went to work for Ronald Friedman, Attorney at Law in State College. She also worked for Sidney and Edward Friedman, for a total of 35 years, retiring in June 2013 as Office Manager at Industrial Commercial Realty. She loved feeding the birds, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks. She enjoyed reading, skiing and visiting the Outer Banks in NC each fall. She loved flowers of all types and was close to being a gourmet cook.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by three sisters, Reverend Virginia Eminhizer of Heath, OH; Linda Boyles (Jerry) of Heath, OH; Joyce Gettig (Archie, Jr.) of Bellefonte; and her Maine Coon cat of eleven years, Nikki.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Saturday, July 13th at the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main St., Pleasant Gap, P A from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to the American Cancer Society designated for Breast Cancer Research.
