Maxine Elizabeth (Chilcote) Black, 90, of Rebersburg, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in her home. She was born on March 3, 1925 in Orbisonia,PA a daughter of the late Elbin “Chick” and Nora Chilcote. Formerly of Altoona, Maxine made her home in Rebersburg for the last 12 years with her granddaughter. She spent 6 months in Rebersburg and wintered 6 months in Bonita Springs, FL.
Maxine was a nurse at the Mercy General Hospital in Altoona and then went on to be an assembler at Veeder Root Manufacturing retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service. After her retirement she studied and graduated as a Duncan Ceramists teacher.
Maxine belonged to the Red Hatters in Florida and the Bavarians in Altoona. She was a seamstress and enjoyed painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Black, son Joseph Ronald Black and companion Kirby Harbaugh.
Maxine is survived by her granddaughter Penny (Chris) Walizer of Rebersburg, 4 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 21, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm in the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home 120 West Main Street, Millheim, Pa. Services will be held at 7:30 with Pastor Kenneth Geisewite officiating. Burial will be private.
