Obituary of Michael Barrett, 79

Michael J. Barrett, 79, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Born on June 7, 1938, in Pottsville, Pa., he was the son of the late Michael B. and Helen (Shollenberger) Barrett. On August 10, 1963 in Wilkes-Barre, he married the love of his life, Anne Marie (Williams) Barrett, who survives him at home after sharing 54 years of marriage together.

Michael was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville. He went on to attend Kings College in Wilkes-Barre as well as Scranton University, earning his Masters. He worked for Centre County MHMR for over 30 years until retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Stacy Lewis and husband Richard, of San Antonio, TX, and Erin Keen and husband Chris, of Bellefonte. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kevin Keen, Nathan Lewis, and Kamryn Lewis.

Michael was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. He was a life member of the Yorkville Hose Fire Company in Pottsville and the Knights of Columbus. Additionally, he was a member of the Trains Collectors Association.

There will be a public viewing held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Mass will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 9am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will immediate follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
