Obituary of Michael Hunter Holderman M.D.

Michael Hunter Holderman, formerly of Bellefonte, passed away quietly Feb. 27, 2009, in Havertown. Michael was born Oct. 20, 1948, the son of the late Theodore W. and Vivian Hunter Holderman, of Bellefonte.

He was a 1966 graduate of Bellefonte High School and a 1970 graduate of Lock Haven University. From 1971 thru 1978 was a Master Teacher at the Steuben County Association for retarded children in Corning, N.Y. He decided to return to college and entered Medical school, graduating in 1982. After his residency at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, he went into private practice in Havertown. When he became ill, he left his practice in 2000. Michael loved people, his rose garden, and animals-especially dogs. When living in New York, he owned and showed Borzoi's. At the time of his death he owned and showed Whippets. He also shared his life with three parrots and the Koi in his pond. Michael enjoyed his life. He had a great number of friends. He will be missed for his kindness, quick wit, good looks and memorable laugh.

He is survived by two brothers, Steven (Mary), of Bellefonte and James (Sue) and their son, Tyler, of Boalsburg. Also surviving are several aunts and numerous cousins.

Friends are welcomed to attend a memorial service to honor Michael's life on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hope United Methodist Church in Havertown. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to a charity involving gardens or animals of the donor's choice.
