Mildred M. Eckenroth, 97, of Centre Hall, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Wynwood House at Centre Hall.

She was born August 13, 1916, at Philipsburg; a daughter of the late George and Margaret McCloskey Kennedy.

She married Paul James Eckenroth July 17, 1934, who preceded her in death February 27, 1986.

Mrs. Eckenroth was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm.

Most recently she was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, canning, baking wedding cakes, and most importantly spending time with family. As a Sunday School teacher, she worked with toddlers for many years.

Surviving Mrs. Eckenroth are four daughters, Martha A. Grove and her husband Sam of rural Centre Hall, Mary E. Albright of State College, Janet G. Bowersox and her husband Wayne of Lehigh Acres, Florida and Margaret E. Corl and her husband Neal of Rebersburg; three sons H. LeRoy Eckenroth and his wife Anna Marie of Centre Hall, Gary L. Eckenroth of Lehigh Acres, FL and Raymond P. Eckenroth of Centre Hall; one sister Olive May Lingerfinger of Hollidaysburg; two brothers, Delbert Kennedy of New York and Earl Kennedy of Altoona; fourteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, and fourteen great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Leona Gentzel, a grandson Ryan Paul Eckenroth; three granddaughters Janie Confer, Martha Ann Albright, and Deborah Eckenroth; and two brothers, Burton and James Kennedy.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 am, Friday, March 7, 2014, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall. The funeral will follow immediately at 11 am, at the church with the Reverend Scott Klimke officiating. Burial will follow in the Emmanuel Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Tusseyville.
