Nellie Watson, age 89, of Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, formerly of Runville, died on May 22, 2018. Born June 10, 1928 in Boggs Township she was the daughter of the late Michael and Kathryn Delaney Furl. On March 24, 1947 she married the late Walter M. Watson.

She attended the Bellefonte Area High School. She worked at Penn State University for 30 years in the Agriculture and Printing Communications Departments.

She attended the Runville United Methodist Church. Her memberships included the Runville Ladies Aid, the Milesburg Senior Citizens (a charter member), retirees of Penn State University, AARP, and retirees of the Teamsters Union. She was an Acornette of the 87th Infantry Division Association.

Upon their retirement, she and Walter enjoyed a number of bus trips across the United States. She enjoyed many kinds of crafts and baking. One of her greatest joys was baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes for her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She also made hundreds of beaded Victorian style Christmas ornaments which she gifted to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Fay), of Howard and a daughter, Ruth Ann Myers (Denny), of Centre Hall, eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Estright, Cora Baney, and Ruth Potts and by a brother, William Furl.

There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 10am-noon at Runville United Methodist Church at 1216 Runville Road, Bellefonte. Funeral Services will immediately follow at the church at noon with Pastor Doug Mellott officiating. Burial will follow at Advent Cemetery in Boggs Township.

The family would like to thank the staff of Eagle Valley Personal Care Home and of Hospice for the excellent and loving care they provided for our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and most of all our beloved “Aunt Nell.”
