Norma Brooks McMullen, 82, of Centre Hall, passed away on Thursday, September, 20, 2018 at Juniper Village. Norma was born on March 18, 1936, in Bellefonte, the daughter of the late Harold C. and Geraldine E. Baumgardner Brooks. On August 16, 1958, she married John A. “Jack” McMullen who survives at home. Norma is also survived by her daughter, Suzanne K.M. (Michael) Sancilio of Roseville, MN and her sons, John B. (Misti) McMullen of Lexington, KY and Steven A. (Kathleen) McMullen of Harrisburg. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Philip (Victoria) Sancilio, Amelia Sancilio, and Joseph McMullen and her great-grandson John “Jack” Sancilio.

Norma was a school teacher for the Penns Valley School District at Centre Hall – Potter Elementary School. She was a retired member of the Centre County and Pennsylvania State Education Association. Norma was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall. She enjoyed traveling, music, reading, knitting, flower gardening and shopping.

Norma deeply believed that teaching was a high and special calling. For 30 years, she made her classroom a place of learning, acceptance, and support for hundreds of 3rd and 4th graders who still cherish their memories of being under the attentive care of Mrs. McMullen.

Throughout her life, Norma was a loving daughter, a devoted wife, an ever-present mother, a faithful friend, an affectionate aunt, a proud Mimi, an adoring great-grandmother, and a child of God.

The memory of Norma will be made afresh in the hearts of those who now grieve her loss with the new growth of gardens in spring, the sight of dolphins in the sea, early mornings at her beloved Myrtle Beach, family gatherings full of laughter and too much food, and in the bright towering boldness of a sunflower.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring Street, Milesburg, PA. A memorial service and burial in the Advent Cemetery, Boggs Twp., Centre Co. will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church Youth Group, P.O. Box 292, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
