Paul J. Walter, 65, of State College, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009.
Born April 8, 1944, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Florian J. and Mary Rita Gallenz Walter. On Dec. 18, 1965, he married Bonnie Waite, who survives. Paul earned a B.S. in wood engineering from Penn State. He was a commercial industrial building contractor and founder of Ag-Com Builders in Centre Hall. Previously, he worked for Potlach and Borden Chemical, where he developed and patented two wood adhesives.
Paul was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and had served as club president. He was scout master of Boy Scout Troop 83, coached several athletic teams and served on the National Board of Officers for the NFBA.
In addition to his wife, Paul is also survived by three children, Michael and his wife, Jill, of State College, Pamela, of Newport, R.I., and Matthew and his wife, Alison, of Charlotte, N.C.; two granddaughters, Jennie and Cassie; and two brothers, George, of Pittsburgh, and Thomas, of New York. He was pre-deceased by his sons, Mark and Steven; and his grandson, Steven.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Msgr. Lockard officiating.
