Paulette Hartman Wernecke, 63, of State College, died May 26, 2010, at home.

She was born April 15, 1947, the daughter of John R. and Emma L. (Montgomery) Hartman. She is survived by her husband, John, whom she married in 1978, and children Tracy and David, both of Chicago, Ill. Also surviving are four brothers: John R. Hartman II and William J. Hartman, of Lewistown; Clifford M. Hartman of Hackettstown, N.J. and Kermit G. Hartman of Winchester, Ky.

She graduated from Lewistown-Granville High School in 1965. She first worked for AT&T in White Plains, N.Y. After returning to Pennsylvania, she worked from 1968 to 1996 for the Russell, Mid-State and Unitas Banks as a teller, supervisor and branch manager. (Her experiences included foiling an attempted bank robbery.) From 1997 to 2008, she worked as an insurance specialist for Robert E. Fleck & Associates. For several years recently, she also operated Picket Fence Quilts in Bellefonte and represented Longaberger. She belonged to the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church, as well as the Order of the Eastern Star and the Clinton County Quilters Guild.

Her greatest legacy is the many lives she affected in a positive way. She was loved by all who knew her. Services will be Wednesday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Carl Campbell officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Barr Funeral Home, Inc., 120 Logan St., Lewistown, from 7-9 p.m. Interment will be in the Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association , 501, Howard Ave., Altoona.
