Pauline “Polly” K. Spicer, 92, of rural Spring Mills, formerly of State College, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Salem Hill Personal Care Home in rural Spring Mills.

She was born July 30, 1920 in Huntingdon County near McAlevy’s Fort, a daughter of the late Leslie C. and Clara Mae Dean Horner.

On October 27, 1939 she married Earl Melvin Tate who preceded her in death March 3, 1954.

Pauline attended Ferguson Township Schools. She worked at the former Sheraton Motel in State College and later at the cafeteria at Centre Community Hospital.

Mrs. Spicer was a member of Woody Crest United Methodist Church in State College and the Woman’s Missionary Society of the Church. While living in Spring Mills she attended Faith Alive Fellowship. She was a former member of the Senior Citizens in Pine Grove Mills.

Among the things she enjoyed most were spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren; needlework, and working with flowers.

Surviving Mrs. Spicer is a daughter, Carol Lee Tice and her husband Frank of Centre Hall; a son Earl Melvin Tate of Apache Junction, AZ; and a daughter Bonnie Lou Tate of Bellefonte; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. Mrs. Spicer was the last of her generation.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Shirley Pauline Eminhizer, a grandson Randy P. Reed; two sisters and three brothers.

Friends will be received Monday, July 15, from 10:00 a. m. until 11:30 a. m. at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a. m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Chris Korn officiating. Burial will be in Meyer Cemetery, Buffalo Run Road, Bellefonte, PA
