Obituary of Phillip Lloyd, 83

Phillip J. Lloyd, 83, of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on September 1, 1934, he was the son of the late James-Jackson (“Jack”) and Alice (Butler) Lloyd.

Phillip was a 1951 graduate of Winnsboro High School in Winnsboro, Texas and furthered his education at the Business College at Tyler, Texas from 1951 until graduating in 1952. He served in the United States Army in 1958 and worked as the company clerk and worked in the medical offices. After the service, he worked as a Senior Rightaway Agent for Duke Energy until his retirement.

Phillip is survived by two children, Amanda Lloyd of Los Angeles, Ca., and Samuel Lloyd of Virginia, one grandson, and long-time companion, Elsie Witherite.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Alisa Lloyd, three brothers and three sisters. Phillip was the last of his generation.

Phillip was a member of the Baptist and the Methodist churches in Winnsboro, Tx. while he was a resident there.

He enjoyed working crossword puzzles in his free time. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching Penn State, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
