Dr. Richard Dean Carr, M.D., 86, of Port Matilda, died surrounded by love at home Sunday, August 23, 2015. Born June 29, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the son of the late Monroe Carr and Kathryn Anna Carr Albrand and step-son of Harold Walter Albrand. On June 13, 1953 he married the true love of his life, Miss Patty Burns who predeceased him and their reunion in heaven will be a celebration. Their marriage of 60 years was the center of his life. Surviving are his four children, Breton Patrick Carr and his daughter, Sasha of Creston, California, Kitsy Carr Fisher, her husband, Tom, their three children Lyssa and her husband Troy and children Caira and Bradyn; Austin and his wife Cara; and Cassidy, of Dublin, Ohio; Melissa Carr Merritt, her husband, Ken, and their two sons, Alexander and Breton, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Alison Alene Carr-Chellman, her husband, Davin, and their three children Asher, Jules and Aila of Stormstown, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Carr was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School where he played football and ran track. He graduated first in his undergraduate class at Ohio State University, where he played lacrosse and was in Phi Beta Kappa honorary. He also graduated first in his medical school class, also at Ohio State University. He completed two residencies one in internal medicine, and one in dermatology. He practiced medicine for the US Air Force in Texas, as well as in various practices in Michigan, Wisconsin, California and Ohio. He practiced dermatology in Upper Arlington (private practice) and Westerville (with the Center for Surgical Dermatology) for more than 50 years, retiring in 2005 and was on the faculty in Dermatology at Ohio State University, heading the program there for several years. He loved his years as a physician.

He loved to play handball, watch birds, and travel to the Tetons in his beloved Wyoming. He loved dogs and always had a faithful companion by his side. Most of all he loved our Mama. He was instrumental along with his wife Patty in the founding of the St. Brigid of Kildare parish and school in Dublin, Ohio. He was a long time member of First Community, United Church of Christ.

He is assured of a place beside our mother today. Our Papa was a gentle soul, patient, kind, peaceful and always gracious.

Memorial will be September 11, 2015 at 11 am at St. Brigid of Kildare Church, 7179 Avery Rd., Dublin, Ohio 43017.
