Richard “Dick” McKivison Kelley, 69, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully at home and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Richard was born on March 20, 1946, in Philipsburg, the son of Janet McKivison Kelley and the late Arthur Kelley. On August 20, 1977, he married Shirley Owens Spicer Kelley, who survives.

Dick graduated from Bald Eagle Area High School in 1964. He was employed as a laborer for Bolton Metal Products (formerly Cerro Metal Products) for 40 years until its closure in 2008. He also delivered pharmaceuticals for Handy Delivery from 1993-2013. Dick thoroughly enjoyed this job as it perfectly matched his outgoing personality and enabled him to form many new friendships.

Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors working with his tractors and outdoor equipment. He also loved attending doo-wop concerts and singing along. In his younger days, he enjoyed attending Penn State football games, cutting firewood and watching the planes at University Park Airport. Dick was a good neighbor, often lending a helping hand by plowing snow.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by one son, Richard (Teresa) Kelley, Howard; two daughters, Tracy (Greg) Leitzel and Joy (Brian) Long, Millheim; three step-sons, Bill (Deanie) Spicer, Bellefonte; Robin Spicer, Lamar; Rick (Suzi) Spicer, State College; and five step-daughters, Deborah (Evo) Rondini, Harwinton, CT; Cindy Lutz, Bellefonte; Ethel Marie (Steve) Kramer, Concord, VA; Patricia Cowen, State College; and Carol Spicer, Harwinton, CT. He is also survived by three sisters, Donna (Bill) Riefel, Barbara (Charlie) Patterson, and Brenda Kelley (Rick Schmerbeck); two brothers, Roger (Lisa) Kelley and Keith Kelley (Penny); 29 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Elaine Alterio, father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Charlotte Alterio and two step-granddaughters, Jennifer Laing and Brittany Spicer.

There will be a public visitation held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 North Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Clyde Mighells officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 AM.
