Richard H. Thompson, 90, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on September 19, 1928, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Martha (Aikey) Thompson. On July 8, 1950, in Lock Haven, he married Gloria (Barner) Thompson who survives in Bellefonte.
Richard was a 1949 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He worked as a mechanic on farming machinery and for Hipple Implement Shop in Bellefonte.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Melissa Thompson of Bellefonte and Jennifer Day of Milesburg. Also surviving are six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Witmer, two sisters and one brother.
There will be a public viewing held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 6-7pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10am at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, with Pastor Christopher Passante officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
