Robert “Bob” D. Calderwood, 84, formerly of Moshannon, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2010 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, PA. Born on May 15, 1926, in Runville, he was the son of the late Millard F. & Hulda Mahaffey Calderwood.
Bob was of the Protestant faith.
Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. For his years of service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal with three Bronze Loops and the National Defense Service Medal. He owned and operated Calderwood Used Cars for over 30 years before retiring.
Bob was a life member of the Beech Creek American Legion, Post 623, a member of the Snow Shoe VFW Post 5644 and a member of the Pennsylvania Game Breeders Association.
Bob is survived by his children; Lynda J Gilson of Mobile, AL, Jeanette D. Calderwood of York, PA, Phyllis D Spangler and her husband, Bud, of Bellefonte, PA, and by his brother, John D Calderwood of Los Osos, CA. He is also survived by two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his companion, “Tippy”.
Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Friends will be received on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St, Snow Shoe, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11am, at the funeral home with Pastor Cathy Dittman officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Askey Cemetery, Snow Shoe Twp.
