Robert “Bob” J. Chilcoat, 88, of State College, passed from this life into the presence of our Lord on August 22, 2014, at Juniper Village at Brookline Skilled Care. Born on January 24, 1926, he was the son of the late L.B. and Pearl Wirtz Chilcoat. Bob was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. On April 2, 1947, he married Jean Witmer Chilcoat, who preceded him in death on November 30, 2003.

Bob retired from Centre Concrete Co. after 42 years of employment. Friends and fellow employees knew him as “Chilly”. Earlier in his life, Bob enjoyed bowling, hunting, gardening and loved the outdoors. He was a life member of the Houserville United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the Pleasant Gap Fire Company where he helped in the Bingo stand at carnival time. He was a life member the State College Masonic Lodge No. 700, Centre County Chapter 129 of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Free and Accepted Masons, a 32 degree mason of the Consistory of the Valley of Williamsport and Bellefonte VFW Post 1600.

He is survived by five daughters, Judy (Gary) Zimmerman of Harrisburg, Joan (Dan) Kerstetter of State College, Joanne (Wayne) Isett of Grantville, Janice (Steve) White of Punxsutawney, and Jetta (Terry) McClenahan of State College; and one sister, Thelma Dean of Centre Hall. He was Pap to eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Hoover and Hulda Haag, and one brother, Ralph Chilcoat.
Family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday. August 27, 2014. A memorial service will follow at 11:00AM at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, with the Pastor Christopher Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
