Robert E. Clark, 97, of State College, died Friday, March 18, 2010, at Foxdale Village. Born May 16, 1912, in Litchfield, Ohio, he was a son of the late Norris P. and Jeanette Waters Clark. On Sept. 14, 1940, he married Lucille Lukens, who survives at Foxdale.

Bob graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Akron in 1935, and earned his Masters in 1939 and Ph.D. in 1947 both in Sociology from the University of Chicago. He retired as Professor Emeritus from Penn's State's College of Liberal Arts, Department of Sociology, in 1975. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and retired from the Naval Reserve as a Lt. Commander. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by her sons, Thomas E. Clark and his wife Susan, of Summerville, S.C., and William R. Clark and his wife, Linda, of Carlise, Mass.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Dr. G. Edwin Zeiders. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
