Robert Malgieri, of State College, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at his residence.

Born July 31, 1950, in New York City, he was a son of Rosalyn Flaherty Malgieri of Crestwood N.Y. and the late Dr. John Malgieri. On November 16, 1974 he married Linda Batt, who survives at home.

He is also survived by four sons, Scott M. Malgieri and his wife, Katherine, of Lompoc, Calif., Eric C. Malgieri and his wife, Erica, of State College, Dr. Christopher J.Malgieri of Columbus, Ohio, and Michael R. Malgieri of Conshohocken; six grandchildren, Kaylee N., Daniel M., Samantha L., Sarah E., Anthony J. and Shaun T.; and four brothers, Dr. John A. Malgieri and his wife, Robyn, of Phoenix, Ariz., Richard Malgieri of Crestwood, N.Y., Patrick Malgieri and his wife, Patricia, of Rochester, N.Y., and Paul Malgieri of Bronxville, N.Y.

Robert was a 1968 graduate of Mount St. Michaels High School of the Bronx, N.Y. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass., in 1972. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1974 to 1981, attaining the rank of Captain.

Second to his family, he was devoted to patriotic service. He and his family are proud of his military service in the USAF where he flew the F4-G (Wild Weasel) aircraft while in Europe and the F4-E while stateside. After leaving the Air Force, he relocated to State College and spent the next 30 years devoted to National Defense as a contractor, starting at HRB Singer and culminating at SRI, Inc. as site manager and the Associate Director for the Center for Signals and Technology.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.

His Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Monsignor David Lockard officiating.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.

In life he believed strongly in helping those less fortunate. His already blessed family suggests that In lieu of flowers donations be made to The Fulton County Catholic Mission, 110 3rd Street McConnellsburg, PA 17233, in memory of Robert Malgieri.
