Robert “Pete” Charles Neill, 76, of Lamar, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at his residence.

He was born April 10, 1940 in Bellefonte, a son of the late Robert and Frances Frazier Neill. On April 29, 1960 he married Linda L. Confer who survives at home.

“Pete” graduated from the Bellefonte High School and went on to serve with the U. S. Air Force with the 112th Aircraft Control & Warning Flight Division, earning the rank of Airman Second Class.

He retired form Cerro Metals after 35 years of service.

Pete was an avid and accomplished woodworker.

His memberships included the Nittany Antique Machinery Association, and the American Legion in Pleasant Gap. He was a former member of the Power Squadron in State College and the Coast Guard inspection station in Howard.

Surviving Mr. Neill in addition to his wife of 56 years, Linda, are four daughters, Julia A. Howes (Wayne) of Lumberton, NJ, Tina M. Riffe (Randy) of Boonsboro, MD, Kimberly S. Demer (Bruce) of Tampa Fl, and Bobbi Jo Dorman of Traveler’s Rest, South Carolina; and one son Robert J. Neill (Marybeth) of Las Vegas; one sister Barbara Bower of Centre Hall; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Alice Huckleberry and a son in law David Dorman.

Friends will be received from Noon to 1:00 pm Monday, March 27, 2017 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The memorial service will follow immediately at 1 pm at the funeral home, with his grandson Pastor Joshua Dorman officiating. Military honors will be accorded immediately following the memorial service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Zion Cemetery.
