Ronald N. Lidgett, 77, of Bellefonte, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. The son of the late Joseph C. Lidgett, Sr. and Vivian (Bumbarger) Lidgett, he was born on June 13, 1937, in Bigler. On June 4, 1960, he married Agnes (Brnik) Lidgett, who preceded him in death on January 19, 2014.
Ron was a graduate of Snow Shoe High School, Class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 thru 1962. He retired from Corning Asahi of State College as a maintenance supervisor. After retiring from Corning he worked at Republic Parking at University Park Airport and the Bryce Jordan Center. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Bellefonte Moose Lodge #206, where he earned his Pilgram Degree of Merit on May 27, 2006. Ron was also a member of the Bellefonte Undines, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War.
Ron was an avid hunter and golfer, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by one daughter, Tanya Packer and her husband, Chad, of Bellefonte, one son, Ronald J. Lidgett and his wife, Diane, also of Bellefonte, four grandchildren; Adam Lidgett of Glendale, NY, Ryan Lidgett of Bellefonte, Alyssa and Katelyn Packer, both of Bellefonte, along with three sisters; Jeannine Lidgett, Penny Smades, Cherry Coble, and three brothers; Bill R., Terrance S., and Larry L. Lidgett.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ron was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph C. Lidgett, Jr.
A public visitation will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014, from 6-8 PM, with a Vigil for the Deceased at 6:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St. Bellefonte, PA. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte, PA, with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, 116 E. Bishop St. Bellefonte, PA 16823.
