Obituary of Ruby Newman, 88

Ruby Fae Newman, 88, of Pine Grove Mills, died on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born July 5, 1926 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Hilda N. Springman Irion. Ruby married Gerald O. Newman, on April 25, 1945, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1992.

She is survived by four children, Sharon N. Jarvis and husband, Robert, of Indiana, Janice N. Olsen and husband, Richard A., of Boalsburg, Naomi Gail Burns and husband, Donald, of Bellwood, and Barbara N. Weber and husband, Karl, of State College; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Gerald, Ruby was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Brenda Dawn Newman and two brothers, Max Irion and Doyle Irion.

Ruby was a 1944 graduate of State College High School.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pine Grove Mills Community in Action, and State College Women’s Club.

Ruby enjoyed knitting, baking and being a homemaker.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 277 W. Pine Grove Road, Pine Grove Mills with the Reverend Richard Virgil officiating.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
