Russell E. Mitchell, 49, of rural Port Matilda, died Friday, April 1, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Aug. 12, 1961, in Bellefonte, son of Edward R. "Jaggers" and Hazel Miller Mitchell who survive in rural Howard. He was employed at Quality Machining of Bellefonte as a Machinist. Russell was of the Protestant Faith. He was a 1979 Graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School and CPI. Russell was a former member of Leitzinger's Race Team, he enjoyed hunting and collecting and restoring cars.
On Oct. 7, 1989, he married, the former Carolyn B. Packer survives at home. He is also survived by one son, Caleb R. Mitchell, of rural Port Matilda; one sister, Faith Ann Martin, of rural Howard; three brothers, Joseph D. Mitchell of Smyrna, Ga., Charles W. Mitchell, of rural Howard and Earl D. Mitchell, also of rural Howard.
Services will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, Monday April 4, 2011, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Herbert Emel officiating. Friends will be received Sunday, April 3, 2011, from 6-9 p.m. and from 10-11 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2011. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Huston Twp., Centre Co., Pa.
